Join the Comfort Women’s Fight for Justice during and after the G20 summit

From 7 to 8 July 2017, the German city of Hamburg hosted the G20 Summit. One of the distinguished guests was Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzō Abe. For many years, his government has aimed at silencing and ridiculing the survivors of military sexual slavery by the Japanese army during World War II.

The women, however, refuse to be silenced. They speak out for their rights and remind us how important it is to recognize sexual violence in war and peace as a crime, to support the victims, and to hold the perpetrators accountable.

For one week, from 2 to 9 July, we followed the steps of the “comfort women” in Hamburg, Europe, Asia, and around the world. Please join us to gain new perspectives and get an idea what you can do to restore the dignity of the survivors and support the women and their fight for gender justice.
